Saturday saw the men playing a 4 ball better ball event. Countback decided the winners on a windy day, with David Slee and Ollie Greenslade just edging out Bill Dick and Clive Gibbs, along with Steve and Kes Blackmore, all scoring 42 points. Luke Ebdon and Andy Frankum also won a countback on 41 to take fourth place.

The Seniors played a stableford on Monday which was won by Ken Galvin with 40 points, one shot ahead of Colin Parr and Robin Bailey (39), with John Essery a further shot back in fourth place. There was success for the Seniors Team at Saunton during the week as they finished 3rd in the Annual Pre Season event.

The ladies played a greensomes on Thursday. Taking top place were Lyn Parry and Mo Sparrow, who finished two ahead of Angela Battershall and Juliet Gardner, who beat Sue Bonner and Pat Jeens into third on countback.

Saturday saw the men playing a stableford. Division 2 saw some excellent scores, notably from Neil Ford, who took the win with 43 points, two ahead of David Hill (41) with Nick Murch in third on 39. Division 3 saw a countback on 42, as Mark Cummins edged out Robert Dobson, with Bryan Broxton (37) next best. In Division 1, there was also a tie at the top on 38, with Roger Coates taking victory ahead of Tom Long and Chris Hart.

Frost on Monday meant the Seniors pairs event was changed to an individual stableford. Jim Kenshole led Division 1 with his 41 points, two clear of John Wigginton, Herbie Smith, Mike Conder and Wally Phillips, while in Division 2, Richard Eagles cruised to victory with 43, six ahead of Barry Lias, who was in turn a shot ahead of Peter Bryan and Ken Legassick.

The ladies also played a stableford on Thursday. In Bronze 2, Di Botterill edged out Sue Sparham after both shot excellent rounds of 39 points, to finish well clear of Ruth Ford. Doreen Warren took victory in Bronze 1, ahead of Lyn Parry and Betty Willey, while Angela Battershall was the winner in the Silver division.

Saturday saw the men playing a Canadian Foursomes. This saw some great scoring, especially from Tom Long and David Slee, who shot 5 under par gross on the back nine to win with 46 points, one ahead of long time leaders, Neil Ford and Simon Cartlidge (45). Chris Bruce and Andy Frankum (44) were third, while Tim Lee and head Greenkeeper, Terry ‘Nobby’ Clark (43) won a countback for fourth.

The Seniors played Greensomes on Monday, with Roger Phillips and Ken Legassick leading the way with 45 points, one ahead of David Moss and George Crabbe. Roger Field and John Cann edged out Peter Bryan and new member, Stuart Lewis on countback for third on 42.

The ladies were back in action with a 3 Clubs & Putter event on Thursday. This was won by Lyn Parry in Bronze 1, ahead of Doreen Warren, while in Bronze 2, Di Botterill beat Sue Sparham and Sue Bonner. Sharon Leach was the winner in the Silver division.

Christmas Eve saw a stableford played at Crediton. This was won with an incredible 48 points by Chris Wall, giving him a 6 shot victory over Peter Huda (42) with Tom Berry (41) and Jamie McGuigan (40) rounding out the prizewinners.

Boxing Day was the ‘Cross Country’ event, where Captain, Tony Cockayne, designed a special 9 hole ‘interesting’ course to play. Proving that his golf works perfectly when going in strange directions was Nick Murch, who fired 24 points to beat Lewis Ponsford on countback, while Alex Brealy and Peter Carr both fired 22 points.

New Year’s Eve saw another stableford take place, which was also won by Nick Murch with 42 points, ahead of Ron Berry and Peter Lawrence (both 40) and Tom Long (39)

Bank Holiday Monday’s event was a 3 player team medal, and there was yet more superb scoring – testament to how well the greens are rolling, even with all the recent bad weather. Peter Evans, Kevin Woolacott and Peter Carr were the winning team, firing 57 net, enough for a 1 shot victory over James Stagg, Tom Long and Nick Bunn, with Robin Abrahams, Paul Williams and Ian Burridge winning a countback for third.
